Every roll

Sheets per roll, sheet size and what each roll equals in its own brand's regular rolls. Select a roll to open it in the converter. An Honest Roll is 6 square feet of paper (Charmin's is 5.66 sq ft, Quilted Northern's is 6.65 sq ft and Angel Soft's is 8.44 sq ft).

Sources

Manufacturer numbers come first. Where a maker's own site or pack photo gives a number, that's the value used and the first link. Retailer listings are a fallback for numbers the maker doesn't publish. Checked October 2026. Numbers are approximate and change over time, sometimes without the name changing.

derived means we computed it from other printed numbers, usually the total square feet on the pack. estimated means we couldn't find it printed and borrowed it from a sibling product. Square feet is sheets × sheet width × sheet length / 144.

Not affiliated with Charmin, Quilted Northern, Angel Soft or Kirkland Signature. Brand names belong to their owners.

Softness scores

Softness has no industry standard or printed number, so each line gets a coarse score from 0 to 10. Checked October 2026. See them on the scale. A few reference points that aren't for sale here are on the scale too.

• Start from TechGearLab's tester-panel softness score (updated February 2025), the one current test that puts a number on most of these lines, rounded to a whole number.
• Move a line by one point at most when another independent test clearly disagrees: Good Housekeeping Institute (updated February 2026, a blind tester panel plus an EmTec Tissue Softness Analyzer run by NC State) or Reviewed (updated May 2024, hands-on).
• A brand's own tier names only order lines within that brand. Charmin sells Ultra Soft for comfort and Ultra Strong for strength; Quilted Northern calls Ultra Plush its cushiest. They never set a score on their own.
• A line is rated only when a current test covers that line. Tests of discontinued versions, single blog posts, retailer star ratings and paywalled results we couldn't read don't count.
• One score covers every size in a line (Mega, Mega XL, Super Mega): the tests rate the paper, not the roll size.
• Scores are coarse on purpose. Read a one-point gap as a small difference and three points or more as a clear one.

JSON API

Read-only, no key, open CORS. GET and HEAD only.

• /api/products: every brand and roll, with sheets, sheet size, square feet, ply, the "= N regular" claim and sources. Cached for an hour.
• /api/compare?mode=sheets&a=<id>,<rolls>,<price>&b=...: 2 to 8 packs. Returns the price per 100 sheets, per sq ft and per sq ft × ply for each pack, the winner (or a tie) and a link to the same comparison in the calculator. Bad input gets a 400 with a JSON error.
• /openapi.json: both endpoints in OpenAPI 3.1.

The calculator keeps what you typed in its address, so a link opens the same comparison:

• mode: sheets, area or areaply.
• a to h: one pack each, <product id>,<rolls>,<price>. The price may be empty. A roll that isn't listed is custom:<sheets>:<width>x<length>:<ply>, with sheet sides in inches.
• The roll converter takes /convert?roll=<product id>&mode=area.

Bad values are ignored and the page falls back to its defaults.
