How it works

Why "= 4 regular rolls" doesn't mean the same thing at every brand, and where every number comes from.

Each brand has its own "regular roll"

Charmin: 52 sheets

Never printed. A 208-sheet Mega claims "= 4 regular", and 208 / 4 = 52. derived

Quilted Northern: 63 sheets

Printed in the pack footnote: "compared to a regular roll with 63 sheets." The sheet size is our guess. estimated size

So "= 4 regular rolls" means 208 sheets at Charmin and 252 at Quilted Northern, on different sized sheets, 2-ply vs 3-ply.

To compare fairly by size, the converter also uses an Honest Roll: 6 square feet of paper. That's about one regular roll from either brand (Charmin's is 5.66 sq ft, QN's 6.65 sq ft).

Shrinkflation corner

Rolls change. Names don't always change with them, and the "= N regular" claim almost never does.

Every number comes from packaging text on manufacturer and retailer listings, checked October 2026. They're approximate and change over time, sometimes without the name changing. Check the pack in your hand, and if it doesn't match, use Custom in the deal calculator.

derived means we computed it from other printed numbers, usually the total square feet on the pack. estimated means we couldn't find it printed and borrowed it from a sibling product. Square feet is sheets × sheet width × sheet length / 144.
